Blue Monday has long been known as the saddest day of the year.  It began when a researcher formulated an equation that would calculate the most depressing day of each year based on a number of variables. This day happens to fall on the last Monday in January.  On January 26, 2009, a group of psychologists in Lee’s Summit, MO, threw a party known as the Blue Monday Party as a way to show that even on our toughest days we have a choice to be happy. When one of these psychologists lost a family member to cancer the group saw the devastating impact that cancer had not only on the individual, but on the family as well.  It was then they realized that Blue Monday could be much more than a party, but a way of helping others get through some of the darkest days of their lives.  In July of 2010 Blue Monday was formed.

Blue Monday is a group of like-minded individuals wanting to give back to their community by helping families who have been impacted by the devastating effects of cancer. We are based out of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and are comprised of professionals from the Greater Kansas City area. We are a group formed out of compassion, driven to help others in their time of need.

Blue Monday is in the process of seeking 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. For more information, email info@bluemondaykc.org.
